Description

Mango

Mango comes from a plant native to Asia. To date, this fruit has spread to many tropical countries where it is possible to find it all year round.

Its peel can be yellow, red or green. The flesh is, instead, yellow-orange and has a sweet taste. Its shape is oval and elongated, and it can weigh up to a kilogram.

The orange yellow color of the mango reminds us of the presence of the beta-carotene precursor of vitamin A, essential for obtaining a good tan (since it helps in the production of melanin) but also beneficial for vision.

With regard to what has just been said, we can say that the mango contains in itself several substances very beneficial to the human organism. This fruit has mineral salts such as potassium, phosphorus and calcium but also magnesium, copper, zinc and selenium.

The presence of potassium guarantees a correct hydro-saline balance and a good regulation of blood pressure. The magnesium  on the other hand,  is fundamental for the well-being of the nervous system, for the construction of the skeleton and for the metabolism of fats.

Mango also contains, to a lesser extent, vitamins such as those of the group B, C, E, K

In particular, the Vitamin C has a good antioxidant action, is useful to the immune system, is involved in the synthesis of collagen and is important for the assimilation of iron.

The Vitamin E on the other hand, is the most important antioxidant vitamin we have in our body. Its deficiency could cause muscle and neuronal problems.

The presence in the mango of vitamin B, is useful for the proper functioning of all cells and mineral salts. This also leads to a strengthening of nails and hair at the same time.

Another benefit of mango comes from the fact that this fruit is ideal in the treatment of anemia, in fact it contains abundant amounts of iron, thus helping to counteract various deficit pathologies. Therefore, regular and moderate consumption of mango is recommended to treat this pathology.

Compared to fresh fruit, dehydrated fruit loses water and concentrates fiber, sugars and minerals, thus becoming a nutritious, satiating and not excessively caloric snack. This type of fruit is ideal as a tasty snack.

In the kitchen: Soft biscuits with dried mango

Ingredients:

  • - 2 whole eggs
  • - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • - 50 g soft butter
  • - 6 tablespoons flour
  • - 6 tablespoons of milk
  • - 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • - 4 tablespoons of dehydrated mango cut into small pieces

The first step is to blend butter, eggs and sugar, at the same time mix the flour with the yeast and combine all the ingredients making them mix as much as possible.

At the end add the dehydrated mango cut into small pieces and if necessary, dilute with other milk the mixture that must be soft, to be collected with a spoon, but not liquid.

Cook in the hot plate distributing the mixture in spoonfuls in the molds until exhaustion.

Sprinkle them with a sprinkling of icing sugar.

Mango also goes well with other recipes. If you love salads I suggest you create a rich ingredient such as Mango, Avocado, lettuce ...

Include in your dish also shrimp and seafood, a very welcome combination in China.

For a completely vegetarian salad you can use mango along with avocado, rughetta, nuts, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and lemon juice, a tasty, light and fresh recipe.

Very famous in Thailand is the Thai mango salad, made with grilled chicken breast, mango, lime juice, coriander, soy sauce, red onion, coarsely chopped peanuts and a nice pinch of brown sugar to reduce the acidity of some ingredients.

Nothing is thrown away from the mango!

Did you know that mango peel contains remarkable healing properties to solve cooling problems and to help you lose weight?

Wash it thoroughly and boil it for 5 minutes in about 1 liter of water. Drink the decoction about 3 times a day for at least a week. You will see that the respiratory system will benefit!
