Himalayan Pink Salt
The pink salt of the Himalayas is very different from the common table salt, it is pure, very ancient, free of toxins and pollutants that can contaminate the types of salt that come from seas and oceans.
Himalayan pink salt, also known as "white gold", is extracted from Pakistani mines, is not refined, so it has no addition of chemical components and is also rich in mineral salts (more than 80 minerals). Among the latter, the presence of iron oxide gives it the particular pink color that can have different shades, sometimes even tending to red.
Uses of pink salt
It can be used as a healthier option for processed salt, to make homemade body scrubs and soaking baths. Historically, the people of the Himalayas have used this versatile salt to preserve meat and fish.
Himalayan pink sea salt contains minerals and trace elements, including calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper and iron.
Taste of Pink Salt
Himalayan pink salt has a more delicate taste than traditional salt and this means that, unlike the latter, its use does not lead to covering the flavor of foods. This is why it is excellent in all dishes without altering its flavor.
Why the color pink?
Himalayan pink salt is also referred to as pink salt, Himalayan sea salt, rock salt and Himalayan crystalline salt. This salt comes from the Punjab region of Pakistan about 190 miles from the Himalayas. This region has one of the richest salt fields in the world and they are very, very old. Reference is made to the Precambrian age or more than 4 billion years ago, when planet Earth was first formed! With a history dating back to the creation of the Earth, Himalayan salt is believed to be composed of dried remains of the original and primordial sea.
Himalayan crystalline salt comes from salt mines 5,000 feet deep beneath the Himalayan mountain range. The salt from these mines has experienced enormous pressure for millions of years and is said to be 99% pure. The pink color of Himalayan salt and its color variations, as already mentioned, are indicative of its mineral content. Himalayan crystalline salt can be pink, white or red in color.
When used in moderation, salt can really be great in healthy eating.
