Compound artichoke (Depurative Herbal Tea)
Artichokes belong to the Asteraceae family. The artichoke is a perennial plant that can reach a height of one and a half meters; easy to cultivate, in our country festivals and events are dedicated to him. Rich in vitamins, mineral salts, flavonoids and other valuable nutrients. Considered for centuries part of the "folk medicine" that is based on foods in order to bring benefits to the body. Among the main properties of artichokes there are antioxidant, depurative and even aphrodisiac.
Properties for the heart: In the heart of the artichoke, there is chlorogenic acid, which is an antioxidant substance capable of preventing cardiovascular and arteriosclerotic diseases, such as heart attack, hypertension and stroke.
Purifying properties, due to cynaria, a polyphenol that has a chemical structure deriving from caffeic acid and manages to attract a large amount of water to the kidney that will be eliminated in the form of urine.
Properties for the liver: The effects of cynarin present in artichokes are beneficial, above all, for the liver: it is an acid whose active ingredients are, however, deactivated by cooking and it is for this reason that it would be better to consume the artichoke raw. Cynarin seems to help protect against pathologies such as cirrhosis, hepatitis and jaundice, as well as in case of chemical poisoning: for this purpose, you can prepare an infusion with two teaspoons of dried leaves and half a liter of water to drink three times a day.
Antioxidant properties: thanks to the high presence of vitamin C. The artichoke is an excellent drainer and a valid ally of digestion!
Digestive properties: The artichoke is also used to promote digestion. These are given by the presence of cynarin, a bitter substance capable of promoting digestive processes, stimulating bile secretion.
Contraindications
