GINSENG (Panax ginseng) is a plant native to East Asia that belongs to the Araliaceae family. In China and Korea this plant is used as an ingredient in the composition of Chinese medicines as a real panacea for many ills and a natural tonic to be used in periods of greater fatigue, suffering and exhaustion.
Ginseng is in fact used for internal use in the treatment of stress, fatigue, asthenia, depression and convalescence; it also slows down cellular aging and counteracts the negative effects that free radicals exert on our body. In addition to fighting anxiety and depression, ginseng has a toning and energizing effect for the whole body.
It is a source of vitamins (B1, B2, B12, C, folic acid, nicotinic acid, biotin, pantothenic acid), sterols and fatty acids (beta-sitosterol, daucosterol, oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid), mineral substances and trace elements (magnesium, aluminum, phosphorus, calcium, vanadium, manganese, iron, cobalt, copper, germanium and arsenic), enzymes and phosphates.
The high presence of vitamin C strengthens the immune system protecting us from flu, colds and seasonal ailments.
It should also be noted the presence of triterpene saponins, called ginsenosides and considered the main active ingredients of the drug.
Curiosity: always considered a male aphrodisiac food, ginseng stimulates sexual desire and functions. This virtue seems to be linked to the ability to increase the release of nitric oxide from the endothelial cells of the cavernous bodies of the penis; the consequent vasodilation would allow to obtain a more vigorous erection.
